The Story

A Single Father Against the System

Jeffrey James Anderson, a 55-year-old operating engineer out of Local 150, raised his daughter Ellie from the moment she was born. Her mother, Ashley Turner, had lost custody of all four of her children due to ongoing substance abuse — including heroin addiction, multiple overdoses, and failed drug tests.

Despite this, Jeff never gave up on providing Ellie with a stable home. He worked hard, kept her safe, and did what any good father would do. But when threats began escalating — kidnapping threats, property destruction, harassment — and Jeff turned to law enforcement for help, he was met with silence.

What followed is a documented pattern of systemic failure: over a dozen 911 calls, police reports filed, a protection order granted by a judge — and yet not a single meaningful action taken to protect Jeff or his daughter. Meanwhile, Jeff discovered that Ashley's own father, Clay Turner, had been accused of child molestation by Ashley herself. Jeff encouraged her to report it. For that, he believes he was punished.

What People Say About Jeff

Julianne K. Hill, MS — Social Worker: "I do not claim Jeff to be perfect, as none of us are. We have had heartfelt and honest conversations about his circumstances, and he acknowledges that he could have made different choices. Jeff is willing to take responsibility for his actions. His love for Ellie surpasses anything else in his life. I can personally attest to the love and care he has provided for her. I love Ellie as if she were my own."

15-Year Friend (February 2024 Letter): A longtime friend wrote that Jeff is a "very hard working, caring" man who raised Ellie alone from birth because her mother was unable to care for her. He took very good care of his daughter and bought a gun lock to protect her from kidnapping threats — not for violence, but for safety.

Ashley Turner's Own Statement (February 2024): Ashley herself wrote a statement — witnessed and signed — clearing Jeff. She states that she showed up at Jeff's home on a specific date, that she has never been the victim of violence from Jeff, that she and Jeff can work things out, and that she is not being pressured to write the statement.
